Blackberry Lab
Site: Waterloo, Ontario — greenfield with large stands of coniferous trees and intermittent native deciduous species. The site drops 3-4 meters from east to west in most areas. Program: A site landscape designed to preserve and augment the existing vegetation with native plantings, and stormwater conveyance focused on non-point source pollution. All water quality issues are addressed on site with permeable paving, raingardens and bio-swales. Process: Working with architecture and engineering from conception, a comprehensive, coordinated design was developed over a 12 month period. Construction began in the summer of 2011, finishing in the spring of 2012. |
